— Father Miron —
Spiritual Lives’
Father Miron Kerul-Kmec’, Jr.’s journey to Saints Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church began long before his appointment as pastor. He was born in Košice, Slovakia, the son of a Greek Catholic priest, and from an early age he was immersed in the life of the Church—quite literally, by growing up in a rectory. Church life, prayer, and service were woven naturally into his daily experience.
Barberton, Ohio
At age fourteen, Father Miron came to the United States with his parents, Father Miron Sr. and Mother Marcella. The family eventually settled at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Barberton, where his father served as pastor. There, Miron Jr. continued to grow in faith while learning the rhythms of American life through his education at St. Mary Byzantine School in Cleveland, Coventry High School, and later the University of Akron.
Seminary in Pittsburgh
From a very young age, Father Miron sensed a call to holiness and the priesthood. Responding to that call, he entered Saints Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Pittsburgh, where he deepened his theological formation and earned a Master of Arts degree in Theology.
Orders, Marriage & Family
Along the way, he received minor orders, married Presbytera Sarah Seay, and was ordained to the Diaconate on May 21, 2020, by Bishop Milan Lach, SJ, of the Eparchy of Parma. Together, Father Miron and Sarah share the joy and blessing of family life with their four children—Miron III, Emilia, Anastasia, and Ignatius Cleopa—whose presence brings warmth, laughter, and youthful energy wherever they go.
First Divine Liturgy
One especially meaningful moment in Father Miron’s life occurred on Sunday, June 27, when he concelebrated his first Divine Liturgy with his father at his home parish in Barberton. On that same joyful day, he also baptized his son, Miron Theophan, uniting his priestly ministry and family life in a profound and deeply personal way.
Priest of the Archeparchy
The following year, Deacon Miron transferred canonically to the Archeparchy of Pittsburgh. With his ordination to the Presbyterate, he became a priest of the Archeparchy. Father Miron first served as pastor of Saint John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church on the South Side of Pittsburgh.
Pastor Saints Peter & Paul
In August 2024, he was appointed pastor of Saints Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church—in time to help celebrate the 100th Anniversary Celebration in July of 2025.
